Terms and Conditions for Therapy Services, Creature Courage UK

These terms are designed to ensure a safe, effective, and professional experience for all participants. By choosing to purchase our therapy services, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Bookings, Cancellations, and Refunds

All bookings are non-refundable.

Standard Rebooking Policy

Clients may reschedule their workshop one time free of charge with at least 7 days' notice.* See the exceptions below

Requests to reschedule within 7 days of the workshop incur a rebooking fee of £50.

Requests made within 48 hours of the workshop are likely to be treated as a missed appointment and will not be eligible for free rebooking.

Exceptions may be made in cases of illness or bereavement. We do not want people coming ill to their appointment.

In cases of illness (either client or therapist), appointments may be rescheduled without penalty, including on the day if symptoms arise.

In the unlikely event that Creature Courage must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, clients will be offered either:

  • a full refund, or

  • an alternative appointment date

International clients who are unable to reschedule within 12 months due to illness may be eligible for a refund at our discretion.

*Exceptions for rescheduling:

Weather

Therapy sessions will normally proceed regardless of weather conditions. Reasonable adjustments will be made only when necessary to ensure the comfort and welfare of both clients and animals at Creature Courage's discretion.

If a client chooses to postpone due to forecast weather, they will require booking and paying for a new therapy session.

Travel Delays and Disruption

Clients are responsible for allowing sufficient travel time and making reasonable efforts to attend their appointment.

If unexpected travel disruption occurs, clients are expected to consider reasonable alternative travel arrangements where practical, such as using alternative train routes, replacement bus services or taxis.

As each therapy workshop is reserved exclusively for one client, travel disruption (including traffic, train delays, tube strikes, cancelled services or flight delays) will not normally be accepted as grounds for postponing or rearranging a session for free.

Any exception will be entirely at the discretion of Creature Courage.

2. Attendance and Punctuality

You understand that if you are late, you may miss important aspects of your therapy experience, and the quality of your experience cannot therefore be guaranteed.

Every aspect of the therapy is important, and you are responsible for arriving on time to get the most out of your Creature Courage experience.

3. Therapist Illness, Emergencies and Circumstances Beyond Our Control

Creature Courage will always make every reasonable effort to avoid postponing appointments and recognises the importance of the time and commitment clients invest in attending their therapy session.

In the unlikely event that Creature Courage is unable to deliver your therapy session due to illness, injury, family emergency, severe weather, animal welfare concerns or any other unforeseen circumstance beyond our reasonable control, we reserve the right to postpone your appointment.

Where this occurs, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and offer you the earliest suitable alternative appointment. Any payments already made will be transferred to the new booking at no additional cost.

We appreciate that rearranging appointments can be inconvenient and will always do our best to minimise disruption. However, Creature Courage shall not be liable for any travel, accommodation, loss of earnings or other consequential costs incurred as a result of a postponed appointment.

Lastly, if, in our professional judgement, a therapy session cannot be delivered safely due to concerns relating to the welfare of the therapy animals, Creature Courage reserves the right to postpone the appointment.

4. Therapy Participation and Engagement

You acknowledge that successful outcomes are strongly influenced by your willingness to actively participate in the therapeutic process.

This includes gradual exposure to the feared animal, which usually involves close interaction and, where appropriate, physical contact.

While our therapists provide full guidance and support throughout, results depend on your engagement, cooperation, and willingness to follow professional advice.

5. Results and Guarantees

While Creature Courage has a strong track record of positive client outcomes, results cannot be guaranteed as our treatment is based on cooperation with you.  Human behaviour is unpredictable, and while we can influence, we can't control your choices, thoughts, and actions.

This therapy needs your ability to follow our advice to be effective. Outcomes vary depending on individual factors, including the client's engagement with the process and adherence to guidance provided.

Most of our clients only need one day of therapy to get over their fear. However, if you do not feel fully over your phobia after one session, we do offer additional top-up sessions, as well as more in-depth support for general anxiety at affordable rates.

Many of our clients experience anxiety beyond animal phobias. In these cases, more comprehensive work may be helpful to address wider anxiety patterns and underlying triggers. We also offer package options for those who feel they may benefit from ongoing support. In some situations, anxiety coaching sessions before your immersive therapy can help improve the effectiveness of your results.

Our methods are most effective when:

1. Aftercare advice is followed

2. You are willing to fully engage in exposure therapy to become desensitised to the trigger animal

Each person is different, and sessions are tailored to the individual. While many clients achieve their desired results in a single session, some may require additional time or a follow-up session to reach a full breakthrough.

This is based on feedback collected from our clients. Most adults who require more than one session typically only need one additional session to achieve their desired outcome.

For children, outcomes can vary slightly. While many children achieve excellent results in one session, some may require two to three sessions. This is due to differences in how children process short-term discomfort in relation to long-term benefits.

6. Illness and Health Protection Policy

You agree not to attend sessions if you are experiencing symptoms of illness or for at least a week after showing symptoms.

If symptoms develop, you must notify us as soon as possible to rearrange your appointment. Even if it is on the day, we will waive the week notice rule as this policy applies regardless of notice period.

This is to protect both clients and therapists, including those who may be medically vulnerable.

7. Age Requirements

You must be at least 16 years of age.

If you are under 16, an adult must accompany you.

Children under the age of 8 must book a separate type of therapy that is age-appropriate.

We do not treat any children under the age of 5.

8. Attendance of Additional Persons

Only paying participants may attend sessions.

Friends, partners, relatives, or children who have not paid are not permitted to attend.

You may have someone join at the end of the session to support you during the exposure stage.

If you have a disability, carers are permitted to attend free of charge. Proof must be provided on the day, and at least 48 hours’ notice must be given in advance.

9. Animal Handling and Safety

Creature Courage reserves the right to refuse participation in animal handling where a client is deemed unfit, including but not limited to being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In such cases, no refund will be issued.

10. Health Risk and Vulnerable Individuals

Certain individuals, including those who are pregnant, immunocompromised, or experiencing significant health conditions, may be at increased risk during animal interaction.

Participation in such cases requires prior disclosure and may require written consent. Creature Courage reserves the right to modify or decline participation in the interest of safety.

11. Medical and Psychological Disclosure

You must disclose any relevant medical, psychological, or psychiatric conditions, including medication use, prior to your session.

This includes (but is not limited to) conditions that may affect suitability for hypnotherapy or exposure-based techniques.

Creature Courage reserves the right to refuse or discontinue treatment where full disclosure has not been provided.

We accept no liability where relevant information has been withheld.

12. Additional Disclosure and Suitability

You must disclose if you have clinical depression or are taking medication for anxiety or any other psychological, mental, or emotional issues, or any other known medical conditions and medication (both professionally prescribed or self-medicated). This is only because a few mental health conditions are not suitable for hypnotherapy.

11. You must also disclose any other reasons that may prevent you from being a suitable candidate for hypnotherapy or any of our other therapies listed on our about page.

You MUST also disclose any mental health issues or any history of being sectioned (voluntary or via doctor/police) under the Mental Health Act.

We reserve the right to refuse to treat or discontinue treatment in any case where we have not been fully made aware of any medical or mental health condition or reason that could be a contraindication for the use of hypnotherapy or associated treatments. We will not be held liable where information is withheld.

13. Not a Substitute for Medical Treatment

You understand that this is not a replacement for medical treatment, and we are not claiming to be the only way to treat your phobia.

We advise that you seek advice from your GP or other relevant medical professionals for a variety of different options and to assess your needs for what is right for you.  Our therapy can complement other methods of help.

14. Recording and Intellectual Property

To protect the integrity of the experience and the wellbeing of all participants, all course content, materials, and delivery methods remain the intellectual property of Creature Courage.

Participants are not permitted to film, photograph, record, copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the course in any format without prior written consent.

15. Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge that participation in animal-based therapy and exposure work involves a degree of inherent risk, including emotional discomfort and minor physical risk.

By participating, you voluntarily accept these risks.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Creature Courage shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from participation in our services.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

17. Behaviour Policy

Creature Courage reserves the right to terminate a session without refund if a participant behaves in a way that is unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate toward staff, animals, or other participants.

18. Data Protection

All personal data is handled in accordance with UK data protection laws.

Information provided will be used solely for the purpose of delivering safe and appropriate services.

19. Media Consent

From time to time, Creature Courage may request permission to capture photos or videos for educational or promotional purposes.

This will only be done with your explicit consent.
